Because I've hated my username for god knows how long, I've made a new one to go with the New Year New Everything theme.
So, add me up: bitofglass and I'll see you there.

[02 Jan 2008|03:14pm] |
(a day late, but what the heck. happy thoughts go a long way.)
May the new year be filled with good juju!
Happy wishes and dreams for everybody. May we all find something (someone?) that inspires us to keep living and dreaming and creating!
A new year like every other, but the infallible capacity to hope for better things makes it feel like things will turn out for the better.
Maybe this time. :)

[30 Dec 2007|03:57pm] |
Certainly, I have not written enough. This year, this year. This year is about to end and I have not written enough.
This repetition, to assuage my guilt? I call myself a wordsmith. Hardly.
My friend -- now he is a true writer. I am glad to be caught red-handed.
The self to beat then. I have thirty-two hours.

Enjoy yourselves. :)

Home from XXXmas party, year 2! We shifted venues -- Pam's house now. But still, it was loads of fun. Food, drinks, and dance. We even had a chocolate fountain, beat that! And we were almost complete (again). Not bad. :D
Health Sci Christmas party tomorrow! I hope people go, coz I worked really hard on it. And there's "free" food and drinks and a raffle stuff. The Converse bag is really cute... :D
I love my presents. :D
Random thoughts. There's still some alcohol left in my system. I hope I wake up in time tomorrow. =O

Anyway. Last few harried days before Christmas break! Must rush rush rush! Speaking of harried...
You should check out Annie's blog entry about a little book called Very Short Stories for Harried Readers. It's over HERE.

Mini fails also come giftwrapped as a set: 1. weekend pwn 2. bit lip 3. pox scare
Will have to tread softly.
*offers libations and blood sacrifice to the kidlat gods*
Unlucky streak stop naaaaa. I'll be nice. Seriously.

| Choice |
[12 Dec 2007|08:44pm] |
I realize blogging about school all the time is a terrible waste of words. What puny little lives do we have? We forget we have choices.
So, to liven things up a bit, I decided to be sabaw aaaaaall day. Just for the heck of it. It was fun. For hours and hours, I didn't have to care about being proper or smart or responsible. I just ate lots of chocolatey things and was loud and happy.
I altho became Ethpanyol for an hour. (Thilencio, indio! No edukathyon? You ithupido!)
And burst into cheeze the whole afternoon! Outdated love songs are teh bomb. Ethpecially when thung with thrangerth. :D
(Teeeelll meeee....where did I go wrooong? What did I doooo to maaake you change your miiiind...completely?)
Wheeeeeeeeeeee judo tomorrow! :D

I had this one liner running in my head the whole day yesterday. It sounded good as the start of a short story. Now if I could only remember what it was.
The thing is... *forgets*

My life this past week has been chem chem chem. And now, prelab over. Postlab over. Problem set over.
And the grand finale: Org chem exam 1 over. (*happy jig!*)
The feeling is like swimming in the ocean. Light-headed. Tireless.
The body knows no limits. There is just
going on museum field trips and ice skating with the block. giving adorable kids piggyback rides during Blue Christmas. fussing over choir practices that neither Meow nor I am suited for. learning judo moves, getting them right, laughing at grapevines. running, stretching, growing out of breath to right music at the track oval. helping out the Sumilao farmers the night before the exam, choosing to.
Still, the mind is rational. Reason says sleep now, and I will.
Good night. We deserve it.

Akon concert. I loves. :D
I went with a weird group though. Two really young friends of the family I had to look after. My younger brother. Three guy cousins who've only known me as a nerd since forever.
But hey, how often does Akon come around Manila, taking his shirt off, willing people to dance...?
Exactly. Not the time to be shy around the cousins. Dance and scream away.
Btw, weird half-coup attempt by Trillanes today. Tanks and tear gas and breaking down Manila Peninsula. And curfew. (And my running shoes dying on me on the track oval.)
Got home at the stroke of midnight. I'm just your regular cinderella, I suppose.

Too tired to even make this entry any bit artsy. Defeated by glassware and fragile crystals.
Close to six hours of burnt fingers and wrong instructions and things that won't crystallize. Failure. Sadness. Off to soak and scrub with cucumber melon body wash, and warm warm warm water.

[18 Nov 2007|12:28pm] |
I sat behind this young family during mass today. Dad, little sister, mom, brother, and yaya, in that order.
Watching them made me sad. I could tell the girl was both mommy and daddy's little treasure, while the brother sat closer to the yaya than his mom. He was watching his sister sit on his papa's lap and get loving little pats from mom. All he got was a sharp glare from the waxy mom (with the perfectly groomed eyebrows) when he accidentaly knocked his water bottle to the floor.
Watching him kiss the yaya first during the sign of peace was the saddest part of all.

Went to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, mostly Singapore. Orchard Road lovely shops. Had the best Hainanese and soy chicken. Tandoori chappatis and curried chicken masala in Little India. Raffles City, wonderful notebook and paper shops, among other things. Red Donut delightful, beats Krispy Kreme most days.
Impacted molars out. Ouch. Now, no more food. Just a fat face. :C
On the same day, met up with Erica, Anne, Meow, and Carla. Watched the Story of Us. Pretended not to get teary. I love Michelle Pfeiffer. Grabbed ice cream from Sebastian's ice cream studio. Mmmmmm...
School in coupla days. Not too excited, really.
Saddest thing, can't yawn. Or sneeze. Lots of ice cream though. :)

To take the NMAT, a bachelor's degree is required to have the following minimum credits: Biology - 15 units Chemistry - 10 units Math - 9 units Physics - 5 units
So far, I've taken these: Biology - 5 units Chemistry - 10 units (counting this sem) Math - 6 units (including 3 credited) Physics - 5 units.
Can someone explain to me why I only have 3 more bio units left, but 10 more chem units in the years to come? Does Epi count as Bio? Why is Biochem considered Chem but not Bio? Does Stat count as Math? How about Accounting?
Checking med schools abroad, they require one year each of Bio, Chem, Physics, and Math (calculus/stat). So, if we took Physics for just a sem, does that count as a year?
Geek mode. I just want to do this right.

I had sembreak planned out. Three, four weeks is plenty of time. I would get my molars out, my contact lenses made, my hair done. I was gonna learn how to drive a manual. I was supposed to see my friends off. (Sorry, Lance.) I was going to catch up with my old friends, hang out with the block.
I haven't done any of those. Except for three days in Tagaytay for an HPAIR evsem (which was fun and enlightening), I've just been stuck at home, watching old movies, developing cabin fever. I'm even considering cleaning my room, and that's a sign of something serious.
Thanks a lot, mom. Really.

What do you do when you're a firefly amidst stars? Not just the little pinpricks you see at night, but those huge flaming gas giants that hold the universe together and can easily swallow you whole. Would you cringe at your inadequacy, or giggle like you were high for getting the chance to shine at all?
*criggles*
Finals week ahead! Tally ho, little razorblade!

Ateneo's always been going on about holistic formation. Well-rounded students. All those core subjects and whatnot. Years and years of them.
They've forgotten what Whole means. Their dictionary must list it as: Lots and lots of academics. And Theology. And Philosophy. Let's not give them time to write. Or draw. Or read for pleasure. Or watch basketball games. Or have any kind of fun at all. Not without any kind of tradeoff, that is. Leave all that to the orgs. Make them go home when night has fallen. Let's even implement a dress code. Maybe, we'll be able to raise a whole army of habit-wearing eyebaggy zombies who spew Chem jokes and quote from Mark, maybe Matthew.
I just want to write. This story's been rotting away in my head for ages, and deadlines have come and gone. So much for that.

Avenue Q. The night started off with bad coffee and an even worse oreo brownie, but the play was awesome. Twisted puppets are wonderful. M01, we should have watched this together.
Annniiiieee, happy birthday! I laughed extra hard for you, and checked out the hot lead (who could really sing!) twice as long. :D Jackass, we need to get together soon. I miss you guys!
About a month to go. Go go go go go!

Actually, it's for SA (socio-anthro). My group needs about 200 takers so please spare a teensy bit of your time to answer this survey. (If you're really really nice, you can answer more than once, just give different basic info. :D)
Make me happy by clicking THIS.
Make me even happier by spreading it to as many people as you can!
I love you, I really do. :3
