Those were the longest 36? 38? hours of my life.
I love you Pelly and your dsl. I love you water pump. I love you electric fan. I love you fluorescent light. I ♥ you all.
That was a freaky typhoon. I thought my house was going to pull a Wizard of Oz thing. Thank God it didn't. My neighbor's almost did though, when his dambuhala of a tree crashed into his roof and the entire top half looked just about ready to live out it's pilot dreams.
After a grueling whole day with a monster storm and trapped without power, we were about to snap from cabin fever. So, my dad, little brother, and I went on a joyride looking for any place open. Went as far as Quezon Blvd., Tomas Morato, Timog, Greenhills. (Futile.) We returned home and grabbed flashlights for a midnight escapade around the block. The subdivision looked like a jungle -- trees and other green leafy things (i think i even saw seaweed) peppered the road, huge logs appeared out of nowhere, a bat (YES, A BAT) flapped about uncertainly and finally chose our coconut tree to roost. The fact that everything was pitch black (thanks to good ol' brownout and cloudy night) made it an even better adventure. We finally made it to a neighbor's place where they had light and ice cream. Going home was more difficult. The batteries were stubborn and wished to sleep so we had to make do with feeble cellphone light. Potholes swallowed our slippered feet and we giggled around blindly. Fun.
Today was less fun. No cool refreshing air or rain. No electricity either. I managed to stay sane for the better part of the day but by five? six? in the afternoon, I was floating around the house listless and sticky. I had finished a 500+ paged book in one sitting and my brother managed to coerce a friend into letting him take a bath at his house. I was so desperate I would have gone if not for that last little niggling sense of propriety left in me. Finally (finally!) managed to take a long cool bath at a friend of my gramma's. (THAT was how desperate we were, invading little old ladies' houses.)
I'm happy now. No lab on Thursday, no taekwando eliminations today, Game 2 tomorrow. The world is at peace. For me, anyway.
